Options for preventive migraine therapy

Based on the 20 12th American headache Society/American Academy neurology guidelines for episodic migraine prevention drugs:

Level A established as effective: Divalproex sodium ER 1000 mg a day, topiramate 50 mg twice a day, propranolol 120 mg-160 mg daily, timolol 10 mg-15 mg twice a day, metoprolol tartrate 100 mg twice a day, and butterbur.

Level B probably effective: amitriptyline, candesartan (ARB), lisinopril (ACE), amlopidine (CCB), zonisamide, and megadoses of riboflavin and magnesium
